Pregnancy can be very intense on the body, which is why it is important that you try and maintain a healthy lifestyle throughout your pregnancy. However, there are number of limitations to what you can do physically, so you need to adjust your exercise routine to ensure the safety of both you and your child.

The first thing you should do is speak to your doctor about the activities that are safe for you to engage in. It is important that you not hinder your intake of oxygen, so avoid any activities that make it difficult to breathe. Do not push or overheat yourself, and make sure to stay well hydrated.

Yoga, swimming, and other low-impact activities are great options for exercising during pregnancy and will help to prepare your body for the birth of your child. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your pregnancy, please contact Mary Geldernick, MD, to schedule an appointment.
