What Is the Purpose of a Laparoscopy?
Examining the inside of your body can be a difficult thing. The tissue and surrounding organs in the area that needs to be examined can be incredibly sensitive, but you cannot simply ignore issues that are prevalent in the body because of that.
When the female reproductive organs need to be examined, a diagnostic laparoscopy will be performed to ensure that the patient is safe while the examination occurs.
A diagnostic laparoscopy is a surgical procedure that uses a very thin tube equipped with a magnifying camera called a laparoscope to examine the female pelvic area. A small incision will need to be made in the abdomen in order for the laparoscope to have access to the area.
The camera will provide obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Mary Geldernick with a clear and detailed view of the reproductive organs so that any issues can be examined and diagnosed.
