During pregnancy, you are preparing for a marathon – i.e. labor! You should speak with your doctor about which activities you may continue, as well as which you should avoid.

As a general rule, you may continue whatever exercise routine you were doing before you found out about your pregnancy. Make sure that you are able to breathe and that you don’t become overheated. It is very important to stay hydrated – drinking plenty of water before, during, and after your workouts.

Try to get in a half hour of exercise – five times a week. Swimming, yoga, Pilates, and squats are all beneficial to your body. Remember: you are gearing up for the major feat of birth, so preparing your body for this exhausting experience can only benefit you and your baby.
